NIPSS ATTACK: THREE KILLED AS GUNMEN STRIKE FACILITY
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the death of three security personnel following a security breach at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Alfred Alabo, security operatives have secured the area, while patrols and additional reinforcements have been deployed to prevent further incidents.
The Command said investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.
Police authorities urged residents and members of the public to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring them that adequate measures have been put in place to maintain security.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Affairs at NIPSS, Osime Samuel, had earlier assured that there is no threat to the safety of residents and staff of the institution.
He urged the public to rely only on verified information from NIPSS and relevant security agencies, warning against the spread of unverified reports capable of causing unnecessary panic.
The authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property in and around the institution.
