DSS Rescues Remaining Abducted Federal Polytechnic Students, Arrests Suspect

The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued the four remaining students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were abducted by bandits in Zamfara State.

According to a statement issued by the DSS, the students were freed during a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out without the payment of any ransom.

The agency disclosed that one suspected kidnapper was arrested during the operation, while other members of the criminal gang were neutralised.

The rescued students were among six persons abducted from their off-campus hostel in Kaura Namoda on June 3, 2026. Two of the victims had earlier regained their freedom, while sustained security operations led to the successful rescue of the remaining four.

The DSS described the operation as another major success in its ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.

The agency noted that the latest breakthrough comes just days after it rescued a professor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, underscoring its commitment to protecting lives and enhancing public safety.

Security experts have hailed the operation as a significant boost to ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity, particularly in parts of the North-West where kidnapping for ransom remains a major challenge.
