FG calls for the de-escalation of Yemen-Saudi Crisis:
Nigeria has reiterated its support for multilateral efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Spokesperson, Kimibie Ebienfa disclosed that Nigeria called for de-escalation between Houthis in Yemen and Saudi Arabia to protect civilian lives and regional stability.
He was speaking during a press briefing, stressing that the Federal Government is deeply concerned about reported attacks and potential impact.
The Federal Government is also advising all Nigerians in the region to remain vigilant, adhere to local authorities’ guidance, and remain in contact with Embassies in Riyadh and other locations for consular assistance if needed.
According to him, the Federal Government believes that any further escalation risks undermining security not only in the Middle East but has ripple effects on global oil prices, trade routes and diplomatic relations which can affect Nigeria’s economy.
