FRSC Oyo organises free eye screening to mark World Sight Day

The RS 11.3 Oyo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has organised a free eye screening exercise for its staff and members of the public.

The exercise was held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the command’s premises in Eleyele, Ibadan, as part of activities to mark the 2026 World Sight Day.

It was organised in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Health and Epic Eye Care Clinic, Ibadan.

The highlight of the event was a lecture on proper eye care delivered by Dr. Olalekan Okotete of Epic Eye Care Clinic.

Okotete emphasised the need for regular eye tests, especially for people above certain age brackets, to prevent avoidable blindness.

He dwelt on major causes of blindness, its prevention, and early signs of eye defects.

In his address, the Sector Commander, RS 11.3 Oyo Sector Command, Corps Commander Kehinde S. Dahunsi, appreciated the ministry and the clinic for the partnership.

Dahunsi encouraged staff and members of the public to take advantage of the opportunity to assess and diagnose their eyes.

He said good vision is critical to road safety and general well-being.

The exercise featured screening by a team of specialists from the Oyo State Ministry of Health, Epic Eye Care Clinic and the RS 11.3 clinic staff, with 259 free eye glasses distributed to beneficiaries.
