FRSC RS12HQ Zonal Commander, ACM Leye Adegboyega, Decorates Newly Promoted Officers

… Reaffirms Corps’ Commitment to Staff Welfare, Professionalism and Career Development

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS12 Zonal Headquarters, Bauchi, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, held a colourful decoration ceremony for newly promoted officers and men, celebrating their professional advancement and recognising their dedication, commitment, and contributions to the Corps and the Nigerian motoring public.

The ceremony, held at the Zonal Headquarters, brought together senior officers, members of staff, family members, and other stakeholders to witness the formal decoration of personnel who were recently elevated to various ranks.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Zonal Commanding Officer, RS12 Headquarters, Bauchi, Assistant Corps Marshal Leye Adegboyega, fsi, congratulated the newly promoted personnel and charged them to regard their elevation not merely as an advancement in rank, but as a renewed call to greater responsibility and service.

He stated that the promotion represented recognition of their dedication, professionalism, commitment, and contributions to the Corps, while reminding them that higher rank comes with higher expectations.

According to him, the newly promoted officers and men must justify the confidence reposed in them by the Corps Marshal and Management through enhanced performance, discipline, integrity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the statutory responsibilities of the Corps.

The Zonal Commanding Officer further conveyed the message of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, congratulating all officers and men who were successful in the promotion exercise and emphasising that promotion should be regarded as an increase in responsibility rather than merely an elevation in rank.

He reiterated the Corps Marshal’s charge to all promoted personnel to uphold the values and ideals of the FRSC and to shun all forms of indiscipline, bribery, corruption, and unethical practices capable of undermining the image and integrity of the Corps.

He stressed that every interaction between FRSC personnel and members of the public must be guided by professionalism, courtesy, integrity, and fairness, noting that the conduct of individual personnel, both on and off duty, contributes significantly to public perception and confidence in the Corps.

The Zonal Commanding Officer also reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps Marshal and Management to the welfare, career development, and overall wellbeing of personnel, describing officers and men as the Corps’ most valuable asset.

He noted that the promotion exercise was conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures, taking into consideration relevant criteria including Annual Performance Evaluation Reports (APER), interviews, examinations, Federal Character principles, and the availability of vacancies within the various ranks.

He therefore urged personnel who were not promoted in the current exercise not to become discouraged or demoralised, stressing that promotion is a continuous process.

“While many officers and men may be deserving of promotion, it is not possible for everyone to be promoted at the same time, particularly where vacancies are limited. I therefore urge those who were not successful this time not to be discouraged. Continue to improve your performance, strengthen your professional competence, and remain committed to your duties. Your time will come, and when it does, you must be prepared for the responsibility that comes with it,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted personnel, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Abubakar Julde expressed appreciation to the Corps Marshal, Management, and the leadership of the Zonal Command for recognising their efforts and finding them worthy of promotion.

He described the elevation as both an honour and a renewed responsibility, assuring the Corps leadership that the beneficiaries would justify the confidence reposed in them through greater diligence, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to duty.

Similarly, another celebrant, Route Commander Daniel C. Ijantiku, expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting that the promotion would motivate the beneficiaries to work harder and contribute more meaningfully to the mandate of the Corps.

The ceremony featured the formal pinning of new rank insignia on the beneficiaries, who were promoted to various ranks within the Zone.

The Zonal Commanding Officer, while congratulating the newly promoted officers and men once again, urged them to become worthy ambassadors of the Federal Road Safety Corps and to use their new positions to provide effective leadership, mentor subordinates, and contribute positively to the development of the organisation.

He also encouraged all personnel, irrespective of rank or position, to remain united and committed to building a more professional, accountable, effective, and trusted Federal Road Safety Corps.

The elaborate ceremony was attended by family members of the promoted officers and men, the Divisional Police Officer, GRA Bauchi, CSP Holman Simon, CC Dantaro (rtd), and Special Marshals.

The ceremony ended with goodwill messages, group photographs, and celebrations among colleagues, families, and friends of the newly promoted personnel.
