NORTHERN SENATORS CONDEMN NIGER MOSQUE ATTACK, DEMAND RESCUE OF ABDUCTEES

ABUJA – The Northern Senators Forum has condemned the terrorist attack on worshippers in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, during which hundreds of people were reportedly abducted from Kpenya Mosque after Jumat prayers.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the forum described the attack, which also affected Gidan Zana and Kpenya communities, as barbaric and unacceptable.

The senators expressed concern over the worsening security situation in parts of the country and sympathised with the victims, their families and the people of Niger State over the incident.

According to Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the forum called on the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intensify efforts aimed at rescuing all those abducted and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The Northern Senators Forum also urged the Federal Government to provide urgent humanitarian relief to affected communities and strengthen security measures in Borgu and other border communities vulnerable to attacks.

The forum reaffirmed its support for ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace and security across the country.
