Kaduna State has commenced a statewide reactive vaccination exercise against diphtheria across all 23 Local Government Areas from September 12–17, 2026. Flagging off the campaign at the Primary Health Centre, Badarawa, the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmed, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting children through vaccination, early detection and rapid response. Health teams are reaching communities, markets and other public spaces, supported by radio, television and social media awareness.
Parents and caregivers are urged to take eligible children to designated vaccination points for protection against diphtheria.
They should also watch for symptoms including fever, weakness, sore throat, cough, catarrh, and difficulty breathing or swallowing, and seek medical care promptly
