NASARAWA UNIVERSITY HAILS DSS FOR RESCUING ABDUCTED DEAN

The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Samuel Okunsebor, who was abducted by armed men.

Professor Okunsebor was reportedly kidnapped around midnight on Wednesday at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

The academic was rescued on Friday following what the DSS described as an intensive operation to secure his release.

Following the rescue, the DSS formally handed Professor Okunsebor over to his family in the presence of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Kitso Ngbargu.

He was thereafter taken to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation and necessary care.

Reacting to the development, the university management expressed appreciation to the DSS, describing the rescue operation as swift, professional and commendable.

A senior university official praised the security agency for its efforts, noting that the successful operation had brought relief to the institution, the victim’s family and the university community.

The university also confirmed that two suspects linked to the abduction are currently in the custody of the DSS and expressed confidence that they would face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at enhancing security and ensuring the safety of staff and students.
