NIGER STATE POLICE CONFIRMS UNSPECIFIED NUMBER OF WORSHIPPERS ABDUCTED IN BORGU LGA
The Niger state police command has said an unspecified numbers of Friday Mosque worshippers have been abducted from Gidan Zana, Masaka, sabon Gida and other neighbouring villages in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Eye witnesses say the mass abduction occurred immediately after the conclusion of the weekly Friday Prayers at the Central Mosque in Dekara community.
Among those allegedly abducted by the suspected bandits include the 90 year old father off the District Head of Dekara.
Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Command SP Wasiu Abiodun while confirming the incident disclosed that though no life was lost, security
agencies have been deployed on rescue operations but sources say the state of the roads have slowed down movement as a collapsed bridge linking the community with the local Government headquarters has further impeded on the expected rapid operations.
