NIGERIA PARTNERS DENMARK ON DEEP SEAPORT DEVELOPMENT

NIGERIA PARTNERS DENMARK ON DEEP SEAPORT DEVELOPMENT

In an effort to strengthen maritime cooperation and attract further investment into Nigeria’s port infrastructure, The Federal Government and Denmark’s APM Terminals have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of the proposed Badagry Deep-Seaport.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who is leading a Federal Government delegation to Denmark says the Copenhagen Agreement marks a significant step towards the development of the greenfield port project, which is expected to provide additional deepwater capacity, accommodate larger container vessels and create new transshipment opportunities for Nigeria and the wider West African market.

Oyetola at an engagement with senior representatives of the Danish government and the wider Danish maritime sector emphasises Federal Government’s commitment at enhancing Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for long-term private-sector investment in the sector.
