OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA LAUNCHES MAJOR OFFENSIVE IN NORTH WEST
The Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV to intensify pressure on terrorists and armed criminal elements across the region.
According to the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation combines coordinated ground and air actions to disrupt terrorist networks, movements and logistics.
He said troops of Sector 2, on August 12, conducted clearance operations around suspected terrorist enclaves in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, forcing the terrorists to withdraw into surrounding bushes.
In Zamfara, Danja said the Air Component carried out precision strikes on terrorists moving on motorcycles in Anka Local Government Area, neutralising scores of them and destroying their movements.
He added that the operation is also targeting the Lakurawa terrorist network and preventing infiltration through border areas, while securing the River Niger axis and Kainji Lake National Park from use as terrorist bases.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja reaffirmed the Theatre Command’s commitment to protecting communities, securing Nigeria’s territorial integrity and preventing terrorists from regrouping in the North West.
