OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA RESCUES 13 KIDNAP VICTIMS, DISRUPTS TERRORIST ACTIVITIES IN ZAMFARA

Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims and disrupted terrorist operations during intelligence-led missions in parts of Zamfara State.

The operations, carried out in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, also led to the recovery of two vehicles and the destruction of planned terrorist activities in the affected communities.

In a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the first operation was conducted by troops of Sector Two in Bagega following credible intelligence on the movement of armed terrorists on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.

The statement said troops, supported by real-time surveillance, engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their mission.

A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed.

In a separate operation at Unguwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence reports of terrorist activities and engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle.

The terrorists were forced to retreat, abandoning eight kidnapped victims, while two vehicles were recovered during the operation.

The Joint Task Force said the 13 rescued victims have been handed over to relevant authorities for necessary care and support.

It added that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA remain committed to sustaining offensive operations across the North-West, keeping pressure on terrorist groups and restricting their freedom of movement.
