Oyo Cracks Down on Night Operations, Impounds 32 Motorcycles, Tricycles in Ibadan

The Oyo State Government has intensified the enforcement of Executive Order 002 of 2026, impounding 32 commercial motorcycles and tricycles for operating during restricted hours in various parts of Ibadan.

The overnight operation, carried out by the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), took place between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. across major roads and commercial hubs in the state capital.

Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adesagba Adekoya (Rtd.), said the exercise targeted operators violating the state government’s directive, which permits commercial motorcycles and tricycles to operate only between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.

According to him, the enforcement team covered key locations including Agodi Gate, Bodija, University of Ibadan, Sango, Mokola, Dugbe, Ojo, Iwo Road, Challenge and Ring Road, leading to the impoundment of 22 motorcycles and 10 tricycles.

Adekoya warned operators to comply with the Executive Order, stressing that the government would sustain enforcement across the state to ensure public safety, improved security and effective traffic management.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

He commended security agencies that participated in the operation for their professionalism and support, noting that their collaboration contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.
