Oyo Government Approves $250,000 AfCFTA Contribution to Boost Investment, Trade Opportunities
The Oyo State Government has approved the payment of $250,000 to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s position in attracting investments and expanding trade opportunities across Africa.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.
The commissioner noted that the state’s active participation in the AfCFTA framework has enhanced its visibility and opened up trade and investment opportunities across Africa, particularly in the areas of industrialisation, agribusiness and export-oriented enterprises.
To further consolidate these gains and position Oyo State as a major destination for investors on the continent, the State Government approved the payment of $250,000 to support the implementation of the AfCFTA programmes and deepen the state’s engagement with the continental trade bloc.
The government expressed optimism that the initiative would further stimulate economic growth, attract foreign and local investments, and create new opportunities for businesses operating within the state.
