PCN SEALS 430 MEDICINE OUTLETS IN YOBE OVER REGULATORY VIOLATIONS
DAMATURU – The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 430 medicine outlets across 10 Local Government Areas of Yobe State for various regulatory violations during a four-day enforcement exercise.
The council said the operation was aimed at curbing illegal pharmaceutical practices and ensuring compliance with established standards in the sale and distribution of medicines.
Speaking at a news conference in Damaturu, the Head of Enforcement Department of the PCN, Suleiman Chiroma, disclosed that the affected outlets were sanctioned for offences ranging from operating without registration to other breaches of pharmaceutical regulations.
Chiroma explained that the enforcement exercise forms part of the council’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health by eliminating unqualified operators and ensuring that medicines are dispensed through approved channels.
He reiterated the PCN’s commitment to strengthening regulation of pharmaceutical practice across the country and warned operators against engaging in activities that endanger the lives of citizens.
The council also urged medicine vendors and pharmacy operators to comply with regulatory requirements to avoid sanctions.
