Military hands over rescued victims to Oyo state government

The Oyo State Government has formally taken custody of the pupils and teachers rescued from their abductors in Oriire Local Government Area, as Governor Seyi Makinde assured them of the government’s commitment to their welfare, education and full rehabilitation.
The handover followed the completion of a 48-hour period of medical observation, treatment and psychological evaluation conducted by the Headquarters, 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan.
Receiving the rescued victims on behalf of the state, Governor Makinde commended the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their efforts, assuring the pupils, teachers and their families that the state government would provide the necessary support to aid their recovery and ensure that the traumatic experience does not hinder their education or future aspirations.
The Governor also directed that the rescued victims be reunited with their families without delay, describing the reunion as a critical step towards emotional healing and reintegration after spending 56 days in captivity.
