YAYI MOURNS OGOGO, REVEALS PLANNED APPOINTMENT AS CULTURE, TOURISM ADVISER

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing his passing as a painful loss to Ogun State, the entertainment industry and Nigeria.

The Senator disclosed that efforts were underway to secure advanced medical treatment abroad for the late actor before his condition deteriorated.

“Death was cruel for taking Ogogo away. He was scheduled to be taken to India for advanced medical treatment. We had already processed the visa applications and made all necessary travel arrangements to fly him out of the country,” Yayi said.

He explained that Ogogo’s health worsened before the travel arrangements could be completed.

“Before the visa could be issued, he became extremely weak and could no longer make the trip,” he added.

Yayi further revealed that he had planned to appoint the late actor as Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism with full cabinet rank if elected Governor of Ogun State.

“I had already planned to appoint Ogogo as my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism with full cabinet rank if I am eventually elected as the Governor of Ogun State,” he stated.

The lawmaker described Ogogo as a cultural icon whose contributions to Yoruba filmmaking and indigenous storytelling helped project the image of Ogun State and Nigeria positively across the world.

“Ogogo was not just an icon, but an ambassador who elevated the image of the entire Ogun State and Nigeria through his craft,” he said.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the country following the death of the respected actor, who remained one of the most influential figures in the Yoruba movie industry throughout his illustrious career.
