FG MOVES TO TACKLE HOUSING DEFICIT WITH NATIONAL DATA VALIDATION EXERCISE

Government Begins Verification of Housing Records, Built Environment Nationwide

ABUJA — The Federal Government has commenced the validation of the National Housing Data Report as part of efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and improve planning within the built environment sector.

The initiative, which also covers the implementation and regularisation of developments within the built environment across the country, is aimed at generating credible and reliable housing data to support effective policy formulation and urban development.

Officials say the exercise will provide government and stakeholders with accurate information on housing needs, existing infrastructure and development patterns, thereby enhancing decision-making in the housing sector.

The validation process is also expected to strengthen urban planning frameworks, improve housing delivery mechanisms and support efforts to bridge the nation’s housing gap.

The Federal Government noted that access to dependable housing data remains critical to addressing challenges in the sector and ensuring sustainable development across communities.

The exercise forms part of broader efforts to create a more organised, efficient and inclusive housing system capable of meeting the growing needs of Nigeria’s population.
