HEALTH TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT: FG OPENS NEW FRONT IN EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTHCARE FINANCING
Nigeria is taking a new approach to healthcare financing, as the Federal Government officially launches Health Technology Assessment, HTA, to guide investment decisions in the health sector.
At the inauguration of the HTA Steering Committee and official flag-off of the initiative, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, says HTA will help ensure healthcare investments are guided by evidence, value and measurable outcomes.
The framework will support decisions on medicines, technologies and other health interventions, with the aim of ensuring limited resources deliver greater value and impact.
Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, chairman of the committee and other key implementers explain the significance of HTA and what its adoption could mean for Nigeria’s healthcare system.
