NEW HIJRAH YEAR: ABBAS SEEKS UNITY, PRAYERS FOR NIGERIA
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to demonstrate love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate the Islamic New Year 1448 AH.

In a goodwill message to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar, Abbas urged the Muslim Ummah to recommit themselves to the worship of Allah, noting that love, compassion and tolerance are fundamental teachings of Islam as contained in the Holy Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The Speaker said the New Year presents another opportunity for Muslims to offer prayers for Nigeria, its leaders and the continued progress of the nation.
He also emphasized the need for harmonious relations among people of different faiths, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity and mutual understanding.

Abbas urged Nigerians to uphold values that promote national cohesion and work collectively towards a more peaceful and prosperous society.
