OVER 56,000 CANDIDATES SIT FOR 2026 UNITY COLLEGES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has presented the results of candidates who participated in the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Federal Unity Colleges and the Federal Government Academy (FGA).

Receiving the results, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, disclosed that a total of 60,357 candidates registered for the examination nationwide.

According to the Minister, 56,850 candidates sat for the examination, while 3,407 candidates were absent.

Professor Ahmad stated that the admission criteria for placement into the Federal Unity Colleges remain unchanged, with 60 per cent based on merit, 30 per cent on equality of states and 10 per cent on exigency.

She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s educational system through sustained investment in infrastructure, improved feeding programmes and enhanced teacher quality across schools.

The Minister noted that the measures are aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment and ensuring better educational outcomes for students.

The 2026 National Common Entrance Examination was conducted on Saturday, June 6, at designated centres across Nigeria as well as in the Republics of Benin and Togo.

The presentation of the results marks another step in the admission process into the Federal Unity Colleges and the Federal Government Academy for the 2026 academic session.
