TEACHING PROFESSION: STAKEHOLDERS PUSH FOR GREATER TEACHER VISIBILITY, DIGITAL SKILLS

Education stakeholders have stressed the need to enhance the visibility, welfare and professional capacity of teachers as part of efforts to improve learning outcomes and prepare learners for the demands of the digital age.

At the Africa Teachers Festival, participants noted that despite playing a critical role in nation-building, many teachers continue to face challenges such as inadequate remuneration, limited recognition and insufficient access to modern teaching tools.

The festival, in collaboration with key partners including the Federal Ministry of Education and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), is championing initiatives aimed at equipping teachers with relevant digital and innovative teaching skills needed to deliver quality education.

Stakeholders say the platform also provides an opportunity for African countries to exchange best practices, strengthen collaboration and develop solutions to common challenges confronting the education sector across the continent.
