WIKE MOVES TO RECLAIM DRAINAGE CHANNELS AS MAITAMA FLOODING RAISES CONCERN
The Federal Capital Territory Administration is stepping up efforts to tackle flooding in the nation’s capital, with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordering the immediate demolition of structures obstructing designated water channels in Maitama and other flood-prone areas.
The directive follows the recent flooding that submerged parts of Maitama, bringing renewed attention to the impact of illegal structures and blocked drainage channels on the city’s flood management system.
