DEFENCE MINISTRY DISMISSES RESIGNATION REPORT, DESCRIBES CLAIM AS FAKE NEWS

The Office of the Minister of Defence has dismissed reports alleging that the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, intends to resign from his position, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Ministry said the report was entirely unfounded and designed to misinform the public.

The statement stressed that General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and focused on delivering on the Federal Government’s national security objectives.

According to the Ministry, the Defence Minister continues to provide leadership in the implementation of the nation’s defence strategy, with tangible results already being recorded in ongoing security operations across the country.

The statement further noted that the report was the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to create unnecessary speculation and confusion.

The Ministry therefore urged members of the public to disregard the publication and rely on verified information from official channels.

It also advised media organisations to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publication and seeking clarification from relevant authorities whenever necessary.

The statement reaffirmed that General Christopher Gwabin Musa remains in office and dedicated to advancing Nigeria’s security and defence priorities.

The statement was signed by Leah Katung-Babatunde, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Defence.
