TINUBU MAKES 26 NEW APPOINTMENTS, NAMES FAYOSE REA CHAIRMAN

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Under the new appointments, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.

President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd.) as Chairman.

Former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the Commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Other members of the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode.

In another development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, was redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The President also approved the appointment of Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Similarly, Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr. A.R. Kamal.

President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, naming Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

The President further appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.

Also appointed is Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director, Finance, of the Federal Housing Authority, replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue political ambitions in Benue State.

The Presidency said all appointments take immediate effect as part of efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery across key government institutions.
