Kara Bridge Accident:  No life was lost

Kara Bridge Accident:  No life was lost

No life was lost and no one was injured when a 40-foot container truck crashed into six vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, early Tuesday.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, says the container truck, which had no registration number, reportedly developed a mechanical fault while on motion, lost control and rammed into the other vehicles.

Seven vehicles were involved in the crash. LASEMA’s LRT Tiger Squad, stationed at C3, responded to a distress call at about 6:05 in the morning and, alongside LASTMA and the police, moved quickly to manage the scene, control traffic and prevent another accident.

The damaged vehicles were cleared from the road and traffic flow restored.

LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, commended the emergency responders for their prompt action, which he said helped prevent casualties and clear the road quickly.

He urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to keep their vehicles properly maintained, observe roadworthiness requirements and exercise caution on major highways.

The vehicles recovered from the scene have been handed over to the police for documentation and further action.
