NORTH-EAST STAKEHOLDERS RALLY AGAINST ILLEGAL ARMS PROLIFERATION
The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), North-East Zonal Centre, has convened security agencies and key stakeholders in Maiduguri, Borno State, to strengthen efforts aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit arms in the region.
The interactive engagement brought together representatives of security agencies, government institutions, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for preventing the illegal circulation of small arms and light weapons and enhancing regional security.
Participants stressed the importance of stronger inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, public sensitisation and active community participation in tackling the growing threat posed by the proliferation of illicit weapons.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Centre to promote peace, improve security coordination and reduce the availability of illegal arms across the North-East.
