TINUBU RENEWS TENURE OF NTA DG, NAN MD

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointments of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three-year term.

The renewal takes effect from October 20, 2026, following their initial appointment by President Tinubu on October 20, 2023.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed confidence in the leadership capabilities of the two media executives and urged them to continue advancing the mandates of their respective organisations.

Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, an indigene of Yola in Adamawa State, is a former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU). Before his appointment as Director-General of NTA, he served as Executive Director of Marketing at the authority after retiring from active service in 2017.

Dembos joined the NTA in 1989 as an announcer at the Kaduna Station after completing his National Youth Service and rose through the ranks to serve as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano. He later retired as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre.

The NAN Managing Director, Ali Mohammed Ali, is a seasoned journalist and media administrator with more than three decades of experience in the media industry. He holds a degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University.

Bayo Onanuga stated that President Tinubu charged both chief executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by remaining committed to the mandates of their organisations and supporting the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The tenure renewal is expected to provide continuity in leadership at the two foremost federal media organisations as they navigate the evolving media landscape and strengthen public information dissemination.
