TROOPS RESCUE WIFE OF LATE EX-DEFENCE SPOKESMAN FROM BANDITS

Troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have rescued Mrs. Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits several weeks ago.

According to a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations conducted by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA.

The statement said troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village during ongoing offensive operations aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and securing the release of kidnapped victims.

It explained that the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing under pressure from advancing troops.

Mrs. Abubakar was subsequently rescued and evacuated to a military hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria assured that all necessary support is being provided to aid her recovery and assist her family during the difficult period.

The military also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against bandits and terrorists, pledging to track down those responsible and restore security in affected communities across Katsina State and other parts of the country.
