DIG ISYAKU MOHAMMED, PhD, FCNA, REAFFIRMS OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Efforts to consolidate security gains and strengthen community-oriented policing received renewed momentum as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters Abuja and coordinating DIG for the North-Central Zone, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, PhD, FCNA, undertook an operational inspection tour of the Kwara State Police Command on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
During the visit, the DIG held a strategic conference with the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, psc, mnips, members of the Management Team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments, and other senior officers, where the security situation in the State, operational priorities, and strategies for enhancing policing effectiveness were reviewed.
A stakeholders’ forum held at the Police Officers’ Mess, GRA, Ilorin, brought together the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu; AIG Adisa Bolanta, fwc, NPM (rtd); representatives of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Kwara Community Policing Initiative, Hausa Community in Kwara State, Religious Leaders, and members of the media.
Speaking at the forum, stakeholders commended the existing synergy between the Police and the public, noting its positive impact on security across the State, while advocating improved manpower and operational resources. AIG Adisa Bolanta, fwc, NPM (rtd), emphasized that effective policing requires the active support of the community, describing security as a collective responsibility.
Representing the Governor, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu commended officers and men of the Command for their dedication and assured the Police of the Kwara State Government’s continued support.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to public safety and security, the DIG presented Special Recognition Awards to the Kwara State Governor and AIG Adisa Bolanta, fwc, NPM (rtd), for their invaluable support and commitment to strengthening security initiatives within the State.
Addressing stakeholders, DIG Isyaku Mohammed stated that the visit was aimed at assessing the security situation, communicating the policy direction of the Inspector-General of Police, and obtaining feedback from critical stakeholders. He reiterated that community policing, timely intelligence sharing, and mutual trust between the Police and the public remain essential to preventing crime and sustaining peace. He appreciated stakeholders and members of the media for their continued partnership and urged them to maintain their support for ongoing security efforts.
